Average car ages Nationally?
Why are there more old cars in the Central Northern parts of the USA and Canada? If you go out on the road there it is not uncommon to see many cars that are 20 years and older still driving around. And what’s with all the antique pickup trucks? They have all kinds of old Ford and Chevy pickups.
First off – will someone please report ”’ dgsf ”’ for misrepresentation. I’m sick of these spammers.
In Northern States and Central Canada there are plenty of old cars because they don’t use excessive salt on their roads. That would be pointless because it’s too cold here for salt to be effective. Also, the extremely low temps inhibit corrosion and there aren’t as many airborne pollutants to attack bare metal. We also maintain our vehicles a bit better and most trips are of longer duration. No ‘stop and go’ traffic.
Around the village I live in the average age of cars (mostly trucks) is probably 18-20 years. Farmers are not slaves to current trends and if something works well they hang on to it. I have been looking for an old p/up for the year and a half I have lived here and was only able to purchase one last summer. It was a 1965 Chevy C10 and it was in excellent condition for the year. And the only reason I got was that the kid/owner was off to college and wanted a car.
