Do you need a license to transfer a car title into your name?
Ok so a friend of mine is in an interesting situation. Won’t go into to many details. But do you have to have a drivers license in order to have a car title transferred into your name? Or would a plain state I.D. work?
This is in Washington state.
A driver’s license is not needed to own or register a vehicle, it is only needed to drive. There are many reasons that a vehicle would be owned by someone without a license. A disabled or elderly person may own a car, and have someone drive them in it. A person may have their license suspended, but they still can own vehicles.
You may need to name a licensed driver to get insurance, but you can title the car without a license.
