Auto Detailing Question, pressure washer?

i am about to buy a water tank for my auto detailing business to use with my new pressure washer (2200psi, 2.2gpm). I am wondering what size water storage tank i will need. Should I get 60 gal tank, 100 gal tank?
planning to do mobile detailing, full lots of cars for a quick clean, ect. just looking for some advice

Well, it depends what you goal is.

Are you doing just a quick wash and dry on multiple cars? or are you going to a customers location to do a full detail. I also do car detailing from home , out of my garage.

Anyways, depending on the answer to that, you might need more then 100 gal.

@ 2.2gpm, you have 45 minutes of water with 100 gal… is that enough?

Your tow vehicle might be a concern if it has a low tow rating, but that might not be an issue…. you might drive a big truck like I do. :)

@ 2.2gpm, you’ll have 27 minutes with the 60 gal tank.

I would recommend this….

1, also get a portable water heater, then use that to heat 1 gal of water to use with a bucket to hand wash.

2. use the pressure washer only for rinse or tough to reach with a sponge area.

This will make the water last as long as possible.

To get an even longer use of your water, use a rinse agent like “No Rinse” in with your wash bucket water and all you have to do is wash and dry immediately with your micro fiber cloths…. you’ll only need about 1 to 2 gallons of water per car. search online for waterless car wash or stuff like that… I only do this in the winter by the way, in my garage where i don’t have a drain. I can still wash the vehicle and not worry about too much water collecting.

If towing or storage space is not an issue… always go with the bigger tank. if you get the 60 gal and you run out… you’ll be in a bad mood. ;)
