Ford Motors And GM Want Better Portion Of Subcompact Industry
Domestic automakers are trying to get greater industry portion in subcompacts since the 1970s. Honda and Toyota have long dominated the industry for vehicles that sell low and sip gas. The Big Three, or General Motors, Ford Motors, and Chrysler have been trying to catch up ever since. Later this year, the Chevy Cruze is going to be released for sale, and Ford will soon debut the new Focus. Both car makers seem to be poised for aggressive marketing of those models. Chevy Cruze to debut shortly
Nothing could possibly be further from the truth if a person thinks General Motors is only about Camaros, Corevettes, and Suburbans. Currently, you will find two models Chevrolet offers that for less than $ 15,000 and get more than 25 mpg, the Cobalt and Aveo. Those aren’t just two door hatchbacks, either. That goes for coupe and sedan editions. Toyota and Honda have a fair bit to be worried about, as the Chevy Volt is for the hybrid crowd and the Cruze is aimed right at the heart of the subcompacts. The Cruze, as outlined by the NY Times, will get 26 mpg City and 36 mpg highway. At only $ 16,995, it’s not as well hard on the pocket book either.
Ford Motors is nevertheless a player
Ford presently offers the Fiesta, a subcompact that has been selling like hotcakes, which gets 29 miles per gallon within the city, and 40 mpg highway. The Focus is getting a facelift, and a new one can be out in 2012. The basic Focus now gets 25 mpg. A Focus is only $ 16,640 and the Fiesta lists at $ 13,320. That’s not much more than a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. Since Chrysler and Fiat are now one, expect a Fiat via Chrysler sometime soon.
The Big Three ultimately getting wise
Chrysler, Ford and General Motors, “The Big Three,” want to change the public’s perception. It is not the case that no domestic automaker can make a subcompact. Getting American is something all three car makers want individuals doing, and all three will get aggressive in getting the name out there again.
