Vintage Cars Tax

How do I legally work as a self employed photographer as far as taxes are concerned?

I want to try to make a living off being a self employed photographer, but how do taxes work? Do I need to file a fictitious business name or no? ne

My friend is also starting a service in which he displays his vintage 1930 Durant at weddings and events, does he need to do anything special? We may occasionally combine service (my photography along with his car thing) so what would the best thing to o here be? THANKS!

Keep very good records, and file form 1040, schedule C or C-EZ, and schedule SE.

You don’t need a fictitious name, can just advertise yourself as John Jones, photogrrapher.

If you and your friend combine services for some events, it would be best to each contract separately with the person. If you form a formal partnership, your tax situation becomes much more complicated. If you just tell your clients about the other one’s services there are no tax issues.
